Housebreaking setup Dexter
http://instagram.com/p/v3mYucNqcU/?modal=true I setup a playpen as Dexter is too young to hold it for long. At 2 months of age , he can barely hold it for 5 min and needs to go every 2-3 hours. Considering he will need to be left alone for extended periods of time while we are at work, he... Continue Reading →

Great Podcast from NPR TED talks on dog training and how it relates to raising kids, with Ian Dunbar
I have been telling my friends and family for a long time that we can learn a lot about raising kids from training dogs. Most people either make fun of me or think I am being ridiculous. Here is a link to a TED talk with Ian Dunbar, PhD in Dog behavior, in which he... Continue Reading →
Play and Exercise For Canine Health and Happiness! Dogs & Their Relationships With Other Dogs!
I always enjoyed seeing my dog lay with other dogs. However, dog parks can be a problem and predominantly because of the owners. Dogs, especially large breed, love to roughhouse and play fight. Many owners get super protective of their dogs as they are toddlers and create an anxious and agitated atmosphere for their dogs. That often leads to confrontations between dogs. Dog owners should view their dogs as such and educate themselves on canine interactions and play.

A dog’s anal glands releases a smell when a dog goes potty, is excited or scared, or even feeling aggressive. Other dogs will sniff your dog’s behind to see what the new dog is all about. Butt sniffing among dogs is an introductory process among dogs, and should never…

“How to Raise the Perfect Dog: Through Puppyhood and Beyond” by Cesar Milan … A Dog Owner’s MUST READ
How to Raise the Perfect Dog: Through Puppyhood and Beyond by Cesar Millan
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
This is a must read for any current or future dog owner.
I am a huge fan of Cesar Milan and his realistic and effective approach to dogs.
I believe, he is one of the very few popular dog trainers who propagate an appropriate attitude to dogs and owner/dog relationship. Many trainers reinforce the faulty attitude of people who believe that dogs are like little children or little furry humans. It leads to people imposing human feelings, mentality and attitude onto their K9 companions. The result is neurotic and uncontrolled dogs, frustrated and unhappy dog owners, dog bites, and shelters full of ruined and miserable dogs.
This book is not a training guide. While it has exercises and methods for training your puppy, the most important part of it is the…
