Side mount is probably one of the most dominant positions in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. While full mount and back control are the signature positions, most BJJ players know that escaping from side mount is always a pain.
In my time training, I have seen a few ways to escape the side mount. Most techniques involve bridging and hip movement, but as always the key is in the details.
Today, I learned a new small detail on hand positioning to defend attacks and escape better. Our new instructor showed a small detail on where to place your outside arm and hand to make it less vulnerable to attack and position it for an easier and faster hand advancement.
This is what I love about BJJ!!! There is no limit to how much you can learn!!! There are always new ways to improve the position, adjust technique and adjust the things one is used to.
PS… 12 minute round was fun as well 🙂
What an amazing art!!!
