I would have killed Katniss Everdeen! Review of Hunger Games Series (Spoiler Alert)

With all the hype of the movies and readers claims that these is one of the best trilogies out there, I decided to join the heard and read them.

Here is my opinion in bullet points:

  • The story is simple and predictable
  • The characters are basic
  • Some story-line gaps
  • The violence is PG
  • The second book could have been 2 chapters in another book

While the first book was somewhat entertaining and engaging, the second book contributed little to the story. The arena was boring and the characters were underdeveloped.  It could have easily split between other books or needed some more development.

The third book was definitely my favorite. Finally, the story is more adult and there is some complexity to the characters and the plot. I especially liked the ending.

My personal view is that Katniss should have died. She has no place in the post Hunger Games world. She is broken and out of place. Katniss, just like President Snow, are the embodiment of the struggle era and should have gone with it.

Over all opinion… Hunger Games series … ain’t no Game of Thrones!!!

My rating: 2 of 5 stars

The weakest part of the trilogy. Cool new characters but I found the arena boring and lacking action.
