People always say travel is difficult and expensive. Some think that you need to go with a group or hire guides to know where to go. They assume it’s dangerous and come up with countless other excuses for not experiencing everything this world has to offer.
Here is a trip which took us from the streets of Prague to sailing Adriatic coast, enjoying beaches and castles of Croatia, and from drinking Absinthe in old Prague to having dinner in a middle of German town square. While it was not a budget trip, the cost was very reasonable and the experience unforgettable.
The itinerary was planned by us and with the use of internet sites like TripAdvisor.com and Google, we were able to find amazing restaurants and bars (like Hemingway Bar and a great beer brewery restaurant in Prague).
This was some of the most fun and relaxing vacation I’ve had in my life.
This is a picture blog of the trip we took to Prague, Czech Republic and Croatia for a 7 day sailing trip.
We chartered Beneteau Cyclades 39′ sail boat. The company we used was http://www.sailingeurope.com and overall the service was great. Aside from few small misunderstandings with regards to port fees, we were happy with the boat (Pharos) and the services provided by the charter. They were responsive and informative.
Saplunara Bay, Mljet where we used a mooring provided by the restaurant. On the way to Pomena, it is a must to stop by Ulysses’ Cave.
Pomena, Mljet and tied up to a pier mooring provided by the restaurant
ACI Korcula Marina. Here we dropped an anchor at the bay and used a dingy to come ashore. It is a lot of fun to walk this medeival town and the guard tower bar is a must.
Polace, Mjlet. Here the mooring was provided by one of the restaurants. Great spot to rent bicycles and ride to the salt water lake for a swim, the scenery, and a view of a medieval monetary in the middle of the lake.
Return to Dubrovnik
(While the mooring restaurants are about 15-20% more expensive, it is worth it for the convenience of the safety and accommodations offered by the mooring)
We had a crew of 4 … Zory the Skipper; Steve (me) General Deck-Hand; Inna the Entertainment and Drink manager; Helen the Senior Chef.
